About every six hours or so, the timer on a frost free freezer will turn on the heating coils causing the frost inside the freezer to melt. The melted frost is then drained from the freezer into a pan and evaporated. Once the frost has melted the temperature sensor then turns off the heating coils and restarts the freezer coils. This process is repeated continuously allowing your freezer to operate in an energy-efficient, cost-effective manner. This process eliminates the need for you to defrost your freezer and ultimately extends the life of your frost free freezer.

Another thing to consider when purchasing a frost free freezer, is how much room you have in your kitchen, utility room, or  garage. If the space you have in your home is limited an upright style frost free freezer may be the best choice for you. A upright frost free freezer looks a lot like the refrigerator you have in your kitchen. They take up a very small amount of square footage while still allowing a lot of freezer storage area. Many homeowners find this style of frost free freezer to be right for them.





The next option is a frost free chest freezer. There are currently only a few companies that manufacture this type of frost free freezer. But, as consumer demand increases so will the choices available. A chest style frost free freezer is larger in overall size and requires more square footage, but many people prefer this style of freezer.

If all you need is just a little extra freezer storage space, then maybe you should consider an under the counter freezer. This style of a frost free freezer is similar to an upright freezer but on a much smaller scale. This style of frost free freezer can easily be incorporated into today's modern kitchens and is an excellent choice when you need just a little extra freezer space.
